hand-carved walnut lattice
approx. 1.5 cubic feet of volume
Perpetually unfinished, our wooden vessel is simultaneously closed and porous, able to clutch a few lemons but not contain them. It is an object that questions the practicality of the human compulsion towards organization and finality. In so doing, it reflects the ongoing cycle of both craft and caretaking that are continuously undermined by the entropy of life. This interplay of utility and futility encapsulates the essence of the vessel's existence establishing a dialogue between order and chaos, between the man-made and the natural, invoking reflections on the nature of craft, the passage of time, and the utility of artistic expression.
